Salary: $17.86 / hour

Terms of employment: Permanent employment, Full time, 30 to 40 hours / week

Languages: English
Education: Education is an asset.
Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of professional cooking experience.
Credentials: Safe Food Handling certificate (can be obtained within 3 weeks of commencing employment)
Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail, Fast-paced environment, handling heavy loads up to 15kg, physically demanding, Repetitive tasks, Standing for extended periods, Work under pressure.

Job duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods.
Prepare and cook special dishes as per customer requests or special orders and/or new menu items.
Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances.
Assist chef in planning menus, determine size of food portions, estimate food requirements and costs, and monitor and order supplies and equipment.
Inspect kitchens and food service areas, when required.
Train junior kitchen staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food.
Supervise junior kitchen staff and helpers.
Clean kitchen, work areas, and equipment.
Operate machinery and equipment in the kitchen such as grill, deep fryer, convention oven, dishwasher etc.
Assist the management to manage kitchen operations.
Adhere to safety and sanitary methods.
Any other duties as assigned.
